So I’m really looking at race cars and imports for sale - when I spot a funky looking FD3S drift car for sale. It is the usually rough and trashed looking sort, but then I spot something troubling in the interior shot

Yeah... I don’t think the floor is supposed to look like that.

I would avoid 99% of other people's projects and there's no way I would ever consider a car that was used for drifting. Ever

I had my car up on a lift before but I still held my breath when I removed the carpeting on my mustang. Thankfully it was as straight as they come. I do need to get around to cleaning the adhesive off though.

It's not the lack of carpet. Look at the floorpan and the unibody itself. It is seriously crumpled in several spots.

How does the rest of the car still line up at all with that much deflection in the middle? Do the doors shut?

it JUST looks like it has been “clearanced” to clear the trans/exhaust....... that cage ought to have the chassis nice and square......

They appear to. I was wondering the same thing. It does have an extensive roll cage. I still wouldn't trust it

That thought occurred to me, but I’m not so sure. It doesn’t look like it got punched out to make more room. It looks like it got pushed in from the passenger side corner and even pinched tight in one spot. The wrinkle in the t shaped stamp on the floor makes it look to me like there was an impact.
